Reflection and More

Phase III – Day 8&9    WEIGHT:  160.6 lbs.    WORKOUT: The Bar Method          ADDITIONAL WORKOUT:  Adding the Elliptical – Increasing  by 5-10-15 minutes

Sunday we had a family dinner together.  The only thing I could not eat was the roasted potatoes that I put in with the chicken, but the tomato dish and sauteed Swiss chard was fine.  Due to the first 23 days of the HCG Weight Loss Program and the 17 additional days that I stayed on the diet, the kids were kind enough to eat out if they were having something I couldn’t have on the diet:  sushi, pasta, and French bread were some regular items we ate at home that were being put on hold.

Reflection: I have been printing out the blogs as I posted them to read over with my morning coffee to check for typos and writing notes on possible future topics to write about. Tonight I was going through each one to make sure I had a copy of the entire process, and I ended up at the very first blog:  A Shot At Weight Loss / A Shot A Day Melts the Fat Away.  I remember being so excited when I posted that first blog!  I had been told that other people had lost from 16 to over 20 pounds in the 23-day program. I really wanted to believe that the HCG Diet would work for me, I didn’t want to fail, and I didn’t want to let myself down.  To top it off, I started a blog.  Going on a diet is challenging enough; now, I made a commitment to keep  my audience of one or many posted on my progress in the program.

Barbara’s Weight Loss Progress on HCG: I started at 178.6 pounds prior to the three days of gorging to where I blossomed to 180.2 pounds on Day 1 of Phase 1.  I subtracted my melted pounds from the 180.2.  On the morning after Day 23, I weighed in at 166.0 pounds.  This was a total weight loss of 14.2 lbs. At that point, I decided I would continue another 17 days, and at the end of the HCG shots as they left my system, I weighed in at 160.2 for a total weight loss of 20 pounds! And I have been hovering close to this weight for a little over a week after introducing a variety of foods, including a glass of wine!  I feel younger, have more energy, and proud of my accomplishment!

Frank’s Total Weight Loss Progress on HCG: I know some of you who have been following Frank’s and my progress want to know how much Frank lost — 33 pounds! . . . . and an additional 2 pounds in the week following Day 40.  Frank’s done! He has reached his goal and looks fantastic (strong, muscular) as he worked out daily throughout the program.

One thing I have noticed over and over again, even though the scale doesn’t move as it did while on the HCG shots, I am still losing weight but gaining muscle.  I know because my clothes are even looser on me.  This morning I was able to button close a most loved shirt that I always wore open with a tank underneath.  I even tucked my shirt into my jeans …. which are loose as well.

One last thing, I just read an article put out by a doctor saying that the HCG Diet is just another way for doctors to make money and that the diet does not work.  I wanted to comment on his blog, but there was no way to leave a message.  It was a one-way conversation.  I wanted to tell him that he might have been missing out on an opportunity to help so many patients, and I wish he would revisit the HCG Weight Loss Program.

It worked for me; it worked for my husband; and it worked for my daughter’s boyfriend who was the first one to try the HCG Diet in our family.  We have lost more pounds than we ever imagined and have kept the weight off.  The HCG Diet isn’t just a diet to lose weight; the weight loss process is an education in food, reading labels, and making you aware of hidden sugars, fats, and calories — that’s the key!

Added bonus:  In our case, the HCG Weight Loss Diet has drastically reduced our monthly grocery bill, alleviated many ailments due to excess weight (i.e., eliminated painful knees and joints, lowered our blood pressure, increased our energy, just to name a few), and made us very happy and confident in ourselves.

The Bounty of Phase III

Phase II – Day 36    WEIGHT:  163.2 lbs.

Phase II – Day 37    WEIGHT:  163.0 lbs.

Phase II – Day 38     WEIGHT:  162.4 lbs.

[Oh, yes, you noticed I have not worked out in over four days.  I caught a cold from one of my students and have had to take it easy until I felt better.]

Thursday was my/our last HCG shot; however, the serum will stay in my system for another three days.  On Friday, I had another appointment with Dr. Mager at Clear Center of Health to check on my progress, monitor my vitals, and to talk about what to expect in Phase III of the HCG Weight Loss Diet.  I wore an adorable, fitted, white dress to the appointment that showed off my new figure — yes, I had a figure under all the padding and no, I didn’t care that it was after Labor Day and I was wearing white.  [That rule does not apply in California.]

So far, I have painlessly melted away 17.6 pounds!  An extra bonus:  my long standing blood pressure in the high 150s dropped down to 131 after a stair climb.  I feel great and have not suffered from any side effects, except for missing pasta, but not for long.

Phase III lasts three weeks.  Even though I can eat anything I want except sugar and starches, I should be continuing to lose more weight as I continue to workout at The Bar Method, walks along the water, and other stress releasing exercises.   Meanwhile, I can’t wait to eat an artichoke, avocado, and arugula starting as early as tomorrow night.  After three weeks, I can reintroduce pasta, pizza, and pastries.  My eating style has completely changed and has been replaced with slowly savoring my meals, eating when I’m hungry, and stopping before I’m full.  My new habit will help me to maintain or continue melting pounds until I reach my desired weight.

A huge bonus with the HCG Diet was the education I received that heightened my awareness of hidden sugars and fats by reading food labels. I am focusing on reaching my goal weight of 144 lbs. (another 17.6 pounds), but I am open to stopping short of my goal weight if I start to look too skinny.  I still want to look like a woman; I like my curves.

Again, if I need a little boost to help me reach my goal of 144 lbs., I can safely start the HCG Weight Loss Program again on November 1st for another 23 days — just in time for the holidays.

So guys, I know you have been waiting to hear how much Frank has lost to date:  31 pounds!  He now weighs 182.2 — and tried on some old soccer jerseys that he has not been able to fit into for over 25 years.  They’re loose!  He also found his six pack.

Together we are looking forward to the Bounty of Phase III, including the fresh fruits and vegetables that are allowed in the HCG Diet.
